Head of Group Compliance


Corporate Center in Hydro is mainly located at Vækerø and has around 260 employees within the areas of Finance, People & Safety, Legal and Compliance, Communication & Public Affairs and Corporate Development.

The Group Compliance Department is responsible for supporting the Hydro organization in successfully developing and running Hydro’s business and strategies in a responsible way with high integrity, ensuring it is done in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and Hydro’s governing documents. 

We are looking for an experienced Head of  Group Compliance to lead the global compliance function in Hydro and make sure it is fit for future challenges organizationally and competence-wise. You will lead the team of 6 people located in Oslo and Rio de Janeiro.

Area of Responsibility

As Head of Group Compliance you have overall responsibility for the group’s compliance system as well as for developing and implementing a compliance strategy and relevant governance documents. You are responsible for coordinating the global compliance activities to ensure standardization and consistency as well as synergies in the compliance work throughout Hydro. Head of Group Compliance meets with the Board Audit Committee (“BAC”) minimum twice per year and is responsible for submitting annual compliance report to BAC and Board of Directors.


  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Law or Economics
  • Minimum 10 years of experience from compliance related work preferably in a global setting
  • You are up to date within global compliance trends, directions, strategies and policies
  • You are an experienced leader with strong interpersonal and cooperation skills
  • You have an excellent track record and strong demonstrated personal integrity
  • Fluent in English and Norwegian written and orally, Portuguese is considered an advantage

The position is located in Oslo, Norway and reports to the Executive Vice President of Compliance, IP and General Counsel.
