Head of Group Tax


The Head of Group Tax at DNB is a challenging tax professional and leadership position in Norway’s largest financial services group. Group tax main goal is to contribute to DNB compliance with tax regulations by effectively managing the group tax function and developing, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring the tax strategy within DNB.  

Group Tax at DNB has strong in-house legal and economic competence. The team strives to provide companies and business units in DNB with strategic and operational support to optimize tax cost, avoiding double taxation and penalties for noncompliance with tax regulations.  

The objectives and responsibilities of Group Tax includes tax governance and tax risk management, by setting requirements for tax and VAT reporting, transfer pricing, third party tax reporting (FATCA/CRS), changes to the legal structure as well as handling tax audits and disputes. The team provide professional and strategic advice ensuring that decisions are supported by documentation evidencing that judgements involved are in accordance with relevant tax law and regulations.


  • Overall responsible for DNB’s global tax strategy and ensure execution of the strategy through clear action plans for the team.  

  • Identify, manage and monitor tax risks and tax compliance within DNB.  

  • Regulatory change management within the tax area, including horizon scanning, running impact assessments, and implementation of changed regulations. 

  • Holding the day-to-day responsibility within the tax area, including continuous tax matters and key projects, development of system requirements in value chains and processes relevant for tax. 

  • Oversee and ensure compliance with tax governance in DNB and all relevant legal tax filing, reporting, and payment obligations globally, and advice on tax and legal structure for the DNB group.  

  • Management of significant tax audits and litigation globally and handling local tax audits and disputes 

  • Participation in M&A activities. 

  • Transfer pricing methodology and processes. 

  • Ensure a proactive team both in terms of professional skills and subject expertise, but also in terms of team spirit and collaboration. Continuous developing the current team and attracting new competencies as required. 

  • Contributor to the overall Group Finance agenda and part of the Group Financial Reporting leadership team

Leading DNB Group's tax function requires a highly competent tax professional with subject expertise and integrity, a strategic mindset with the ability to connect business and tax issues, and an ambitious and forward oriented leader who can initiate the right projects and deliver a proactive tax agenda together with a highly competent team.  


Extensive professional experience within the tax area 

Experience from working with corporate tax issues, international tax, transfer pricing and VAT and knowledge of international third party tax reporting. Ideally, in-house experience from the tax department in large Norwegian entity with international operations, combined with experience from a tax consultancy/law firm. Experience with, or interest for IT systems implementation or data aggregation processes can be an advantage. 

Project management experience

Experience in, and track record from, initiating, manage and delivering on large, complex tax matters, handling multiple stakeholders, high degree of complexity and on-time delivery.  

Higher education 

Law degree or master’s degree in economics with strong academic results.

  • Clear understanding of the corporate and business environment and how that impacts the tax area.  

  • Transform broad corporate strategies into clear, specific objectives and action plans for the tax team. 

  • Proactively creates plans and projects that address specific needs within the tax area to enable the company to deliver on corporate strategies and targets.  


  • Experience in leading teams and highly competent team members / subject experts.  

  • Collaborates with the team to manage projects and solve challenging tax issues and to establish clear, challenging key performance indicators for the year.  

  • Systematically reviews team progress against plans, focuses attention beyond the project to the full year or more.  

  • Proactively build relationships and connect to all stakeholders for the tax area on a continuous basis to understand needs and share relevant perspectives and updates.  

  • Strong communicator both in English and Norwegian language.
