Head of Legal


Elkjøp Nordic is currently seeking to strengthen their Nordic Legal team and is looking for a hands-on, proactive, and solution-oriented Head of Legal. The position will be part of a Nordic legal team of two, working on legal matters across Elkjøp Nordics’ business units in Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark. The position reports to Elkjøp Nordics’ Chief of Staff based in Oslo and is a central role in a fast-paced and ambitious Nordic organisation.

As Head of Legal, you will function as a key legal advisor to management and business units, offering advice and guidance on relevant laws and regulations as well as legal developments within the Nordic region and liaising with external lawyers, as necessary.

It is important for Elkjøp Nordic to act responsibly and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Elkjøp Nordic is part of Currys plc, which is listed on London Stock Exchange. Head of Legal therefore also has a dotted reporting line to the General Counsel at Currys plc.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Nordic legal team responsible for providing legal support to Elkjøp Nordics’ operations

  • Develop and implement legal strategies to safeguard Elkjøp Nordics’ interests as well as ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations

  • Provide legal advice on a wide range of issues, including but not limited to commercial contracts, corporate governance, marketing law, employment law, data privacy, competition law, IP and regulatory compliance

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives while managing legal risks

  • Monitor changes in legislation and regulations in the Nordic region and proactively advise the company on potential impact

  • Handle and oversee litigation and disputes, collaborating closely with Currys plc and external lawyers as needed

  • Manage legal matters in accordance with the Group’s governance procedures including the Group Delegation of Authority in accordance

  • Provide and/or oversee the provision of company secretarial support services to companies in Elkjøp Nordic

  • Conduct legal training and awareness programs for internal stakeholders

Desired background and personal skills

  • Master of Laws or equivalent law degree with good academic results

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience of working in a similar role and/or as an external lawyer

  • Experience from or interest in the retail and/or the technology industry will be an advantage

  • Fluent in both English and one Scandinavian language

  • Commercially savvy, proactive and solution-oriented

  • Team player with a positive and proactive approach

  • Integrity, trust, and the ability to perform ethical judgements

  • Good relationship and networking skills, as well as the ability to communicate with various levels of the organisation and external stakeholders

  • Strong collaboration skills, and the ability to work independently
