Northern Lights JV DA is growing and is seeking a new Legal Counsel (Advokat) in Stavanger.

As Legal Counsel in Northern Lights you will have the opportunity to:

Provide business-oriented legal advice on a wide variety of national and international matters to other departments and business units of the company.

Ensure that Northern Lights’ business is conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, rules, and procedures.

Provide legal support to supply chain and business development activities, including contracts review and drafting support on agreements.

Perform the Company Secretary function.

Advice on permitting and other authority processes.

Manage lawsuits, claims and disputes, liaison with external counsel as applicable.

Establish and execute internal training within the legal and compliance area.
The position as Legal Counsel reports to General Counsel.
What we need from you?
The Northern Lights team operates with a "one team" and a strong new business mentality with support from shareholders both directly and through various Service Agreements. You will need to be willing and able to challenge conventional thinking and approaches to arrive at innovative, fit for purpose and effective business outcomes.
More specifically:

Masters level legal degree (Master in Law) from a Norwegian University with strong academic results.

Minimum of 3 years national and/or international experience from in-house legal work, reputable Norwegian law firm(s) and/or companies, preferably within the disciplines of contract/business law, commercial negotiations, and/or company law.

Fluency in Norwegian and English, both verbally and in writing.

Good knowledge of Norwegian regulatory framework. Experience with specific CCS-related framework (EU-directives, laws and regulations) is an advantage.

Experience from the oil & gas industry or shipping is an advantage.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability, and desire to interact efficiently with management and colleagues at all levels of the organisation.

Organised, responsible, accurate, and with absolute integrity.

Highly motivated to contribute to the energy transition.

License to practice as a lawyer (advokatbevilling) is beneficial but not essential.
This is a local role in Stavanger. However, it should be expected some travel both domestically and internationally.
